In December 2019 the General Bureau of Statistics (GBS) issued the publication “Households in Suriname 2015-2018”.
The results of the continuous Household surveys are presented in this publication. So far, only the results of the Paramaribo and Wanica districts have been included.
The section of Household surveys, which is part of the Social Statistics Division, is charged with various surveys, directed at private (family) households and has the following objectives:
1. Measuring supply and use of labour statistics (measure and collect labour statistics)
2. Collect basic demographic statistics on households.
Since April 2018, tablets have been used for the data collection during the household surveys (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing – CAPI).
Previously, data collection was only performed with the use of paper questionnaires.
The data is presented per year and for the following subjects:
– Social and Demographic Data
– Employment statistics (Labour statistics)
– Statistics on dwellings and households
The GBS thanks all data providers, respondents and all other persons for their contribution and commitment.
Special thanks are due to the Head of Automation, the Head and all personnel of Household surveys and Cartography.
